opportunities for you in Newbury

why newbury?

Newbury is where it all began for esa in 2004 and, as a result, we have our largest selection of properties here. It is also home to our head office so many key functions are based in our modern town centre offices including: Sales, Client Reservations, Marketing, Guest Relations, Operations, HR, IT and Finance.

Set in West Berkshire, conveniently positioned between Reading and Swindon, Newbury is a thriving business location and a fantastic place to live and work. It is one of Berkshire's largest towns offering an abundance of shops, exclusive eateries and some world-class visitor attractions on the doorstep. The River Kennet and the Kennet and Avon canal run through the town and there is some stunning surrounding countryside just waiting to be explored. The town's excellent transport connections ensure it's easy to get around and you can be in central London in less than an hour.

local attractions

Newbury Racecourse is one of the most highly regarded attractions in the town, with over 30 fixtures per year. It is widely known as one of the most picturesque courses in the UK, attracting thousands of race goers each year. It's not all about the racing though, there's also live music on a regular basis and the restaurants at the racecourse are award winning.

The Corn Exchange in Newbury's Market Square is a great place for arts, theatre and the cinema. Including a 400 seat auditorium and a 40 seat independent cinema, the Corn Exchange shows a mix of live theatre, comedy and music. For a more intimate, but no less impressive venue, The Watermill Theatre offers a varied programme of performances, workshops and events for all ages.

Highclere Castle, the home of the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, has of course become even more popular since it was used for the filming of Downton Abbey. With excellent walks around the grounds of the castle and a Downton Abbey tour, Highclere is a must-see.

award-winning restaurants

If it's fine dining you're after, then Newbury town centre and the surrounding areas have some of the best restaurants in the UK. From The Woodspeen, which has recently been awarded a Michelin Star, to the Vineyard at Stockcross, Newbury has it's fair share of excellent restaurants. For something a bit more affordable, but equally high quality, try Brebis in the town centre. This relaxed, family run restaurant is located in the heart of Newbury and offers delicious dishes with a French flavour. There is also a lovely tapas bar, El Sabio, as well as chains such as Cote Brasserie, Pizza Express, Nando's and Bill's.

Newbury also has a number of lovely pubs, including the Lock Stock and Barrel, which is set right on the banks of the River Kennet and calls itself a "river retreat". The Newbury and The Elephant in the Market are both popular gastro pubs in the heart of the town centre serving good food and a selection of ales and cocktails.

superb shopping

Shopping in general is great in Newbury. In October 2011 the Parkway shopping development opened, which boasts big high street names such as John Lewis Home, H&M and Topshop. For something a bit different try one of the many independent shops or boutiques such as Fifi and Moose.

Newbury Real Ale Festival is held every year around September and is a great day out for all ages. In 2015 over 5500 people attended the event which starts around 10am and goes on to 11pm with live music throughout the day and over 350 ales, wines and ciders to choose from.

Every Thursday and Saturday in Newbury's Market Place there is a market selling local produce and local craft items. There is also a Farmers Market every 1st and 3rd Sunday.

In August each year, Highclere Castle is home to the Battle Proms - the perfect summer evening event which ends with spectacular fireworks.
